Our Founding Story

The Waythrough Project was founded by Alysia Robinson after witnessing firsthand how difficult it can be to access help when it’s needed most. Her passion for this work comes from both her personal life and her experience working directly in the addiction and recovery field.

Alysia watched addiction impact her own family, including her brother and sister, and saw how deeply it affected not only them, but everyone around them. Those experiences gave her an understanding of how complicated, emotional, and urgent the need for help can be, and how often families are left trying to figure it out on their own.

As she began working in the treatment field, that understanding deepened. She spent time helping individuals and families try to access care, only to see how many people were ready for change but couldn’t get there. Whether it was lack of insurance, financial barriers, or not knowing where to turn, she was faced with the reality of having to tell people “no” simply because they didn’t have the resources. Those moments stayed with her.

At the same time, Alysia experienced her own life-changing challenge as a single mother navigating a long NICU stay. She understands firsthand the emotional and financial weight that comes with those moments, the uncertainty, the exhaustion, and the feeling of trying to hold everything together while needing support yourself after just having a baby.

The Waythrough Project was created from all of these experiences. It exists to bridge the gap between people who are ready for help and the resources they need to move forward. It is built on the belief that no one should be turned away or left to navigate these moments alone.
